Our Story

Restaurant cook plating scrambled eggs and bacon at a commercial kitchen counter

Our Founder

It all began right here in Kennesaw. Growing up, In Charles Rohling’s family, if you cooked - you didn’t have to clean.

One of five siblings, that motivated him to start cheffing it up as a preteen. Rohling gleaned the basics via food magazines but by his senior year at Marietta High, his culinary creativity took hold as he started developing his own recipes. After college – and time a spent as a Georgia Tech track athlete – he picked up restaurant marketing and management experience in the big leagues, holding several corporate positions before returning to hands-on food creation through well-known Atlanta brunch delivery biz BrunchB!tch.

Now, ready to lay roots, the Kennesaw native has returned to his community offering up a culmination of experience and passion with his first brick-and-mortar – morning shift. – an approachable neighborhood eatery located literally a-mile-and-half from where he grew up.

It’s because of Rohling’s time in the industry – from server to cook and beyond – that Morning Shift houses a customer-focused team, offering tasty eats with a side of staff positivity. The Morning Shift intention is to offer patrons top-quality, delicious breakfast and lunch, suitable for any palate, with little-to-no wait time.

Our Community

Morning Shift owner Charles Rohling believes the front of house and the back of house are equally important to delivering a great meal. That’s why we operate as a counter-service restaurant with an open kitchen - we have nothing to hide and everything to be proud of. For Charles, success comes down to teamwork and exceptional customer service. We hire locally and stand behind our team: they’re as welcoming and dependable as the food they serve.

Morning Shift is more than a place to eat - it’s a community hub. While our dining room is a spot for neighbors, students, and visitors to connect and enjoy a meal, our commitment extends beyond the walls of our restaurant. Partnerships and community support are central to how we operate. We proudly support Kennesaw’s college culture and partner with Kennesaw State University and its athletic programs. We also contribute time and resources to local businesses, nonprofits, and community events. These efforts are just a few ways we give back to the community Charles Rohling calls home.
